Stylize Your H1 Tags!

Using un-modified H1 tags on your site will make it look terrible.

But -

Through the power of style sheets, you can create eye-pleasing text that appeals to the user, and still gives weight to your site in the search engines.

While you may want your H1 tags to stand out, you don't want to overuse them on any one page. The general rule of thumb is to only use them one time per page.

The smart SEO'r also knows that your page title should match up exactly to the text in your H1...

There was a ton of information learned from the SES Conference at San Jose, and to make things easier, I posted the best references in the Links section.

Nothing too exciting, but I am in the process of building a directory (I know, like we really need another one) - but it's going to be a SEM friendly site, so it will do you good to get your site listed in there.

Conversion Rate - The number of visitors to a website that end up performing a specific action that leads to a conversion. This could be a product purchase, newsletter sign up or anything where information is submitted.

My blog got crushed underneath the technical limitations of Blogger.com, so I am in the process of building my own "version" of a blog, and when that's back up, I'll be sure to drop a link to it!

The conference in San Jose was great, as always, nuggets of information were discovered. And as usual, the search engineers grudingly gave away a few more pieces to the algorithm puzzle...always a good thing!
