:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: TOP TIP :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I'm sure you've heard this before -

- Getting links pointed to your site is still the best way of getting your site ranked in Google. How can this be done? Directory submissions, Article writing, blogging and even classified ads.

But getting links isn't enough, you need to get links from relevant and powerful sites.

Look at it this way: If you're going to build a house, who are you going to listen to? The guy down the street or a contractor who has built hundreds of homes?

It's the same principle with Google. They realized that a reference from an authority site is worth more than 100 links from un-related sites.

So, if you're going to be engaged in a linking campaign, spend the time to get those highly-sought after authority links!

Don't know what was in the water this month, but I somehow cranked out 5 articles...actually only 3 are articles, and the last two are more along the lines of "how to". Enjoy.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: NEWS ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Yahoo has entered into Google's advertising space by selectively running a beta version of their answer to Adsense, called The Yahoo! Publisher Network Self-Serve

Here's a link to their blog if you want to read more: Yahoo Blog

So how will this impact the web? I think it will offer a great alternative, and a tremendous opportunity for advertisers to be able to finally pay for a keyword that they can't right now: Google. In the AdWords program, you can't place any ads that have the word Google in them. But, you can pay for Yahoo related ads.

I would be extremely surprised if Yahoo doesn't return the favor since so many people would most likely pay top dollar to get terms with Google in them.

Almost forgot! I've now created an RSS feed for all of my articles, so that as they are released, and if you have a RSS reader, you should get them right away. Click underneath my mug shot to add them: SEO Articles

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: WRAP-UP ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I'll be in San Jose from August 8th - 11th for the latest Search Engine Strategies conference. If you can't make it, read the daily blog that will be provided (above in the links section) to keep up with what's going on.

If you can ever get the chance to go to one of these conferences, I would HIGHLY recommend it. It doesn't matter if you are a total newbie, or a seasoned pro, I guarantee you'll leave with many "nuggets" of great information, and the speakers do a great job of presenting.

Not sure yet if I am going to blog the event, since I spend most of the time taking notes, and asking questions. I'll definitely have an update for everyone when I get back...
