Google Groups

Google has a fantastic resource known as Google Groups that you need to be aware of. It has a ton of information gathered from professionals and verification from the individuals who have used or benefitted from the topic of discussion.

But since this is a newsletter about SEO, let's get to those nitty gritty's, shall we? Just think about the value of getting a link from Google. Yes, the url is groups.google.com, but it is STILL A LINK FROM GOOGLE!. So, fire up the url, join a group and get your link love from the #1 website on the planet.

Google Gets Personal

Many people have personalized their searches so that over time when you query for anything, Google tries to skip over anything that you've filtered out from your search requests.

While this may be a nice feature for some searches you will conduct on some kind of routine, isn't the goal of search to learn about something new? If you've pre-screened other results, you may miss out on some great site because of those limitations.

Many in the SEO community think that personalization will hurt their business. I don't think it will have much impact since the person who can identify your product or service by brand name has already had enough of a mindshare to be aware of what you have to offer.

And, the best part about the web: every day new people are logging on for the first time, and they will need to go through a learning curve before they figure out their own personal style of search.

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: WRAP-UP ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Looking to hopefully attend SearchEngineLand in Seattle in early June and then the following week I know for sure I will be going to Canada for the SES Toronto conference. And since I am going to Canada, now I need to get a passport! It's just something we Americans have taken for granted all this time, but I guess now we are all on the same playing field. (end of political rant!)

Thanks~
